Volunteer Responders is a national, flexible volunteering programme supporting health and care in England.

The scheme is built on top of the GoodSAM platform and links volunteers to local needs. This allows volunteers to offer help at a time which suits them.


Key Information For Volunteers

  • Volunteer Responders scheme is for England only at this time.
  • You will need to have a smartphone or a tablet.
  • You would need to go through an online ID check.
  • Your volunteering expenses are paid.
  • You will have your own high-vis clothing. (For Steward Volunteers only.)
  • You can book shifts and accept local tasks easily via the GoodSAM Responder app.
  • As a volunteer you will have a clear guidance and access to a 7-day-a-week support line and safeguarding team.





Key Information For Referrers

  • Volunteer Responders are available across England in large numbers.
  • They are already recruited and credentials checked.
  • You do not have to pay their expenses.
  • They have their own high-vis clothing. (For Steward Volunteers only.)
  • They can be booked online easily.
  • Volunteers are sourced quickly (shifts are typically filled within 2 hours of being offered).
  • Volunteers are supported by Royal Voluntary Service.
  • All volunteers have guidance and access to a 7-day-a-week support line and safeguarding team.
