150 Thousand Kits & Growing

Emergency Kit Registry

GoodSAM volunteers and partner organisations maintain the world's largest emergency registry, mapping over 150 thousand life-saving assets including defibrillators, bleed kits, and water and fire equipment.

To prevent misuse, searches are limited to 5 per 24-hour period.

Add Kit to the Register

About the Emergency Kit Register

GoodSAM maps nearby emergency equipment in partnership with national organisations and emergency services, who help maintain the register and resolve any issues.

We also map mobile resources (for example, responders carrying an AED, bleed kit or naloxone). These are not displayed on the public map above.

Key Principles

Open Access

Anyone can search for nearby emergency resources, free of charge.

Local Ownership

Data is owned and managed by the relevant emergency service or authority in each region.

No Commercial Interest

GoodSAM does not sell equipment; our focus is helping responders quickly find what they need.

Understanding AED Icons on the Map

All AEDs on our registry have been validated by our in-house team. Some have an additional layer of validation from a local service.

Orange AED

Validated by GoodSAM’s in-house team.

Red AED — Recommended

Double-validated by GoodSAM and a local service.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have equipment that is fixed and publicly available. How do I add it?

So long as the kit is in a fixed location and publicly accessible (even if it requires a PIN code), please register it on this page. Our team will validate it and add it to the registry.

Why am I only able to look up kit locations a few times?

We want this information to be open and accessible, but we also need to protect equipment guardians from bulk data collection and unwanted marketing. For that reason, searches are rate-limited based on the number and location of requests. If you have a legitimate need for higher access, please get in touch.

I carry kit or keep kit in the boot of my car. Can you map that?

Yes, but not on this static map. If you are a responder, you can select “I have a defibrillator / Bleed Kit / Naloxone and/or EpiPen” from the “Me” page in the Responder app. This means emergency services know you carry kit and can alert you to specific emergencies if they wish.

What is a Mobile AED Responder?

GoodSAM hosts the world’s largest AED registry — thanks to our community. The majority of AEDs are not in fixed locations but carried in kits or in the back of cars. That is why we created the world’s first Mobile AED Registry. Responders who have an AED with them can indicate this through the app and appear as a Mobile AED Responder, shown with an AED backpack icon. There is a toggle button under the “Me” tab for this.

What is the difference between the orange and red AED icons?

All AEDs on our registry have been validated by our in-house team. Red AEDs have an additional layer of validation where a local service (e.g. ambulance or fire) has also performed a check on the device. If you have a choice of AEDs nearby, we recommend choosing a red AED.

I have a question about water rescue equipment.

In the UK, we run the water rescue equipment registry in partnership with the Royal Life Saving Society. You can contact us or the RLSS directly. More details are available at rlss.org.uk/goodsam.

What makes a Bleed Kit and do you have information?

There is no defined content for a bleed kit. Unlike an AED (which is required to treat an abnormal cardiac rhythm), a bleed kit is not strictly required to manage bleeding. We advocate for much greater public knowledge of haemorrhage control — use clothing or cloth and press hard — combined with instant on-scene video to guide bystanders.

We are part of a joint position statement with London Ambulance Service, the NHS London Major Trauma System and NHS England London Violence Reduction Unit. You can read it here.

Who owns the data on the registry?

Data belongs to the local emergency service or authority for that region. GoodSAM acts as the platform to make this data accessible, but does not claim ownership. Each local service can manage, validate and correct entries within their area.

I’ve found incorrect information about a kit on the map. How can I report it?

We take accuracy very seriously. Please contact us with the location and details of the issue. We will work with the relevant local service to correct it as soon as possible.
