Why do we need this?
Responders may be dispatched to vulnerable people in emergency situations. For safeguarding and public trust, we verify the identity of everyone on the platform. Once verified, the image will be permanently deleted. All data is handled in line with our privacy policy.

Code Of Conduct

All cardiac arrest responders must review and agree to the GoodSAM Code of Conduct before registering.

Key Rules Summary

1. Current skills — You must ensure your knowledge and skills are current.

2. Travel on foot — Arrive by foot. Normal road rules fully apply.

3. Fit to respond — Only respond if fully alert and prepared.

4. Stay within your skill set — BLS and AED use only.

5. Hand over to emergency services — Upon arrival, hand over care immediately.

6. Personal safety — Do not respond to unsafe locations.

7. No recording — Do not take photographs during a response.

8. Patient confidentiality — Do not disclose details of any incident.

Your Qualifications

How qualification level affects alerting
The level of qualification you declare may affect the radius and number of areas you are alerted in (depending on your region). Higher qualifications, such as registered medical professionals, may receive alerts over a wider area. Certified first aiders may be alerted over a wider radius than those who self-certify. Your ambulance service or organisation will determine the exact alerting rules for your area.

I have completed an assessed and certificated first aid, BLS, or higher qualification course and hold an in-date certificate that I can upload as evidence.

Self-Certify (CPR Competent)

I am competent in CPR but do not hold a formal certificate. For example: non-certificated CPR awareness sessions, workplace training with no proof of qualification, RCUK Lifesaver online training, or other non-certificated, non-assessed BLS training.
